We've been here SEVERAL times and will continue to go back! The owner is so nice & they offer a discount for military & 1st responders. You can rent kayaks & stand up paddleboards. They also provide life jackets. The cost IS SOOOOO REASONABLE  & you can choose how long you wanna go out, even if it's just an hour. Also, they have a punch card that offers a future discount. My friend and I had such a great time kayaking on the lake yesterday!! It was easy to reserve online and when I called, Andy was extremely helpful and kind and answered all my questions! He dropped the kayaks off for us and picked them up at the same spot. We spent a wonderful 2 hours out on the water on a beautiful day!! Will definitely be renting from him again!! Great time!
My cousin and I went and rented the paddle boards to go out for the day. The people there were very friendly and helpful and the prices for the rentals were cheap as well! My friend and I went kayaking this morning. The guys at the shop were quick and friendly and got us out into the water fast. We weren’t sure the weather would hold out, but they said if we had to come back in early, we’d get to reschedule the part of the trip we missed. Lucky for us, the weather held out! Fun on the lake
My husband and i went here for the first time earlier than i selected. When i called to set up a rental the guy was very patient and nice. Come to find out they werent technically open that day, but he was nice enough to let us come in any way. We havent gone anywhere since. We have taken my sister and she had a blast as well. I am a long time boater but do not as of yet own a kayak. Andy from Killinit kayak will drop you and your rental of your choice of several locales in the Portage lakes-transport the equipment for you and help you get set up. The rental fees are very reasonable and the quality of the equipment is good. I will definately be a return customer. I've tried several boat rental places this one is by far the best. Loved our Rentals!
We rented 8 paddle boards for a birthday celebration. Andy was so great about answering my many calls and questions about scheduling, booking and paddling. We had a lot of fun and it was easier than many of us expected! On top of this, our truck’s battery died while we were packing up. GREAT day on PLX!!
Although I've lived in the area more than 10 years,  this was my first visit to Portage Lakes.  I was unsure of what to expect but navigating was super easy, pretty calm lake,  not too crowded. He offers a lot of information on the Portage Lakes and options for several spots to paddle in that area. I love this place! We own our own kayaks but wanted to try stand up paddle boards, so we headed here. They are super nice and friendly, and when we forgot our sunblock, they gave us some that someone had left behind. They didn't try to sell us any.It's $10 per hour per rental, which is super cheap. Everything was clean and in great shape.You go to their store, and then follow them in your own car to the lake. It's a one minute drive. Then they help you into the yak and off you go. They either come back to get the yaks at the time you want, or you can call or text them to come back. Great people, great experience, great price, great equipment. This is a great place to rent a kayak! $10 an hour, which is the best price we've seen in the area. Also, the owner/workers are very nice, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Our most recent adventure was interrupted by storms, but they gave us as much "make up time" on the water as we wanted.Also, we recently bought one kayak of our own and they were very helpful giving us pointers on how to safely secure it to our rack. After scheduling a time online, we received an email confirmation same day. We also got a text a few hours later which I thought was super courteous. Day of: My husband & I arrived ~15 minutes early & texted the shop number (as recommended per the confirmation email as part of COVID 19 restricts). Within 20seconds I received a text back & was advised to come in the shop. We proceeded to pay & got the game plan together.  For being a smaller shop, there was adequate signage stating in person restrictions & the shop felt very open & clean which was a great first impression!  After paying, we waited for a few minutes in our car while they got the Yacks together. We processed to follow the trailer (via our own car as instructed) to the dock. Once at destination the staff members dropped off the kyacks we requested (sit ins) & off we went! For the price ($10/hr for kyacks) you can't beat the convenience & amenities (paddle, yack, and life jacket). It was our first time using this shop & we will absolutely use this again soon!! Very pleased with the experience! Also the gentleman that checked us out in the shop also provided a business card which is redeemable for a free rental after 10 rentals! Really nice place to rent a Kayak, canoe or paddle board. Easy rental process then you follow the guy to the lake. He helps us get inside and pushed off! We rented two kayaks for two hours and had a blast exploring the Portage lake. We even packed a lunch and attached the kayaks to easily pass food about. So quiet and peaceful and when we saw other boats or kayakers everyone waved and said hello. Such a nice place to spend an afternoon.
